On September 17, 2009 the White House issued a release acknowledging that medical malpractice is a problem and that defensive medicine exists.

It supports caps on pain & suffering damages in medical malpractice lawsuits.Reforming malpractice law is not a silver bullet but may contribute to reducing unnecessary costs.Although the Study puts patient safety first which is an issue that has nothing to do with malpractice, the Study of this issue represents a major offer to Republican critics of the current healthcare debate.
